Workers Representative Election
A workers' representative is someone who is nominated and elected by employees in one workplace, to conclude agreements about overtime work, paid holidays, terms of despatch employment etc. according to the Labour Standards Law and other related laws.
In particular, if an employer wishes to enter into agreements about overtime work with its staff, these agreements must be made through negotiation with the workers' representative. Without Article 36 Agreements to allow overtime, such work is illegal.
Until now in Ritsumeikan there have been no free and fair election procedures for the election of a representative of all workers, including casual workers (part-time, contracted etc.) and foreign workers. Thus we are going to organize a democratic and fair election.
Casual workers (part-time, contracted etc.) and foreign workers have the right to stand as candidates and to vote in this election, too.
